Houses in Meemure still sit among paddy plots and forest edge. The road in is slow, and it can close after heavy rain, so a guided day is easier than driving it yourself for the first time. A village tour stays on paths around the settlement. It is not a summit attempt on Lakegala unless you book a separate climb.

Can I reach Meemure by bus?
A public bus runs from Kandy toward Hunnasgiriya, and from there the last stretch is irregular. Most guests on a guided tour are driven from Kandy so the timing matches the walk.
Is Meemure inside the conservation forest?
The village sits in the Knuckles range, and trails that leave the village into the forest need the right Forest Department permission. A village walk around the houses does not replace a wilderness permit.
