About this activity
The Meemure day tour drives from Kandy over Corbett's Gap into the village and spends the middle of the day on village paths, with Lakegala above the valley if the cloud lifts. It is an easy walk, not a summit hike. The road is slow and can close after rain, so the start is early. Ask for the rate for your group size when you enquire.
Meemure is a lived-in village, and the visit is built around that. You walk between houses and paddy plots, stop for a meal if a host is cooking, and hear how people get supplies in when the road is awkward. We do not climb Lakegala on this tour. If the pass is shut, we say so the day before and offer Riverston or Heeloya instead of pretending the road will open at dawn.
Note: Pickup in Kandy at 6:00 a.m. Drop-off Kandy, evening.

Leave Kandy around 6 a.m., cross the pass, and spend several hours in the village. Return by the same road in daylight.

Can I stay overnight?
Yes, in a simple village house when a family has space. Ask for the overnight rate. It is not included in the day tour.
