Corbett's Gap
Most Five Peaks and Kotaganga days drive to Thangappuwa or a nearby hamlet and start walking from there. The gap itself is a short stop for the view toward the fist-shaped ridge. Carry a layer even on a hot Kandy morning. The pass is cooler and often in cloud by mid-morning.

Questions
Why is it called Corbett's Gap?
The pass carries the name of a surveyor from the British period who worked in these hills. Local people also know the rain-shadow slope by older Sinhala names.
Is the Five Peaks hike the same as standing at the gap?
No. The gap is a roadside viewpoint. The Five Peaks trail continues on foot along the ridge for most of the day.
