This two-day trip pairs the Knuckles Five Peaks with a morning in a traditional foothill village. You walk the ridge on day one, sleep near the forest, and spend day two on village paths and a home-cooked meal before the drive back to Kandy. The starting rate is 120 US dollars. It is a gentler second day than the waterfall chain.
The ridge day is the effort. The village day is the reason to stay overnight instead of racing back to Kandy after the last summit. You eat with a household, hear how people farm the edge of the forest, and walk out on estate paths rather than another high ridge. Heeloya is the village we use when the hosts are free. If they are not, we say which village is hosting before you arrive.
Note: Pickup in Kandy at 6:30 a.m. Drop-off Kandy, day 2 afternoon.
Early pickup in Kandy, drive to the Thangappuwa side, and walk the five summits. Sleep near the forest after the descent.
A shorter walk into the host village, time for a meal and the stories the family wants to share, then the drive to Kandy.
