About this activity
Stage 10 climbs from Dayagama to Horton Plains, 15.88 kilometres with about 983 metres of ascent, and the official notes grade it difficult. The path tops out above 2,100 metres. Park hours apply once you reach Horton Plains, so the day starts early from Nuwara Eliya. Ask for the rate. A warm layer is not optional.
This is a high-country stage, cold in the morning and exposed if the mist tears open into sun. It is a poor choice as your first walk of a holiday. Horton Plains is a national park at the end of the stage, with its own ticket and hours, separate from the Pekoe pass. We plan the finish so you are inside the gate times.
Note: About 15.88 km on foot. Pickup in Nuwara Eliya at 6:00 a.m. Drop-off Nuwara Eliya, afternoon.
