Duwili Waterfalls Chain and Cave Camping

This two-day trek walks into the Duwili Ella waterfall chain and spends the night in a cave camp beside the falls. It is a private trip from Kandy with meals, a guide, and camping gear included. Book at least two weeks ahead so a Forest Department camping permit can be requested before you travel. From 130 US dollars.

Duwili Ella is a series of falls deep enough that you cannot visit them properly and return to Kandy in one comfortable day. The cave is a rock shelter, not a hotel room. You sleep to the sound of water, eat food carried in by the crew, and walk out the next morning. Heavy rain can move the date. We will not enter without the camping permit.

Note: Cave camping needs a Forest Department permit. Leave at least two weeks between booking and the start date.

Itinerary

1. Day 1: Walk in and cave camp

   Leave Kandy in the morning and drive to the eastern approach. Walk in through forest to the falls and set the camp in the cave shelter. Dinner is cooked at camp.

2. Day 2: The waterfall chain and the walk out

   Morning light on the falls, a short exploration of the chain, then the walk back to the vehicle and Kandy by afternoon.
